International Day of Persons with Disabilities: Watch the highs and lows from this year

From celebrating wins to confronting challenges, here’s what went down for disabled communities in Aotearoa in 90 seconds.

  • To mark International Day of People with Disabilities, The D*List reflects on the highs and lows of 2024.

  • This year has been particularly challenging for the disability community, marked by significant changes in funding. But amid these challenges, we’ve also seen moments of joy. Most importantly, we’ve seen the disability community present in lots of spaces - whether at hīkoi, protests or community events - coming together in solidarity and mutual support.

Out of every day in the year, today is our day to share disabled joy, to honour our struggles and to stand - or sit - together. Together, we are stronger.
