Spoken Word Poetry Workshop Series

We are partnering with Action Education to run spoken word workshops for disabled people in our communities. The D*List are looking for applicants from a range of backgrounds and experiences so find out more and apply now if it could be you!

  • The D*List and Action Education are hosting a Spoken Word Poetry workshop series to showcase and celebrate Deaf and disabled creativity and storytelling. These workshops are an opportunity for you to share your experiences, stories and hopes for the future, through the creative form of spoken word poetry. By participating, you will build your confidence and skills such as public speaking, poetry and writing.

The workshops will run for six weeks on Tuesday evenings in central Auckland through June and July, with a final showcase evening where we will celebrate your amazing mahi. This is a free opportunity, meaning there is no cost to participate. However, it is important that you are available for all six workshops, and the final showcase.

Spaces are limited and our selection process will prioritise those who have a strong reason for applying, those who have not had many previous opportunities, as well as folks from Māori, Pasifika and rainbow communities.

We are looking for applicants from a range of backgrounds and experiences, so even if you're new to spoken word poetry, we'd love you to apply.
