Using an outdoor porta-loo for two months during winter in Dunedin made life interesting while Umi and Jacq waited for their bathroom to be made accessible.

Learning to be okay with support workers around the flat was a bit of an adjustment for Jacq, but took the lead from Umi who grew up in an intergenerational disabled family.

While Umi designs her meals as she goes, Jacq follows recipes strictly. But they both agree there's a special magic in their dinner table conversations.
