Prudence Walker

Disability Rights Commissioner

Prudence Walker is Kaihautū Tika Hauātanga Disability Rights Commissioner at Te Kāhui Tika Tangata Human Rights Commission. Before joining the Commission, Prudence was chief executive of the Disabled Persons Assembly New Zealand. Prudence also has a background working for CCS Disability Action and as the national president of CanTeen. As a disabled and queer woman, Prudence comes from a strong social justice perspective and is deeply committed to working to achieve equity for disabled people and marginalised populations.  As well as disability rights, Prudence is the Commission’s spokesperson for rainbow rights, housing and health.
